Do You See What I See?

I have my first "big" red tomato. It is just about ready to be picked.

I am so happy that my veggies are growing and ripening.

I am looking forward to my peppers. That's the only veggie I haven't picked yet.

Another Loaf

I made another zucchini bread today, and remembered to take a picture of it. As you can see, Junior has already stolen a piece of it. He says it's just as good as the first one.

I picked my first cucumbers from the garden, and they are sliced and covered in italian dressing. They will make a yummy side to dinner tomorrow night.

Oh, and my big tomatoes are finally turning red!

Veggies Galore

I am going to take you on a short little tour of my garden. Let's start with the roma tomatoes. Don't they look yummy! I can not wait until they are all red and juicy, ready to be eaten.

Here is one of the many zucchini growing. These are going to taste great on the grill!

And a picture of a cucumber. These are going to be delicious sliced up with some garlic and italian dressing.
I am proud of my little garden. I am just so impatient for things to be ripe.

From A Seed

Remember all those vegetable seeds I planted and tended to so lovingly? Do you also remember how all of them, except the squash, died when I put them outside?

Well, here is a picture of my first squash. There are a bunch more, too. It seems the rain from the past few weeks has done wonders for my garden.

Isn't it beautiful?

My First Cuke!

Look at my little baby cucumber! Isn't it adorable. I was so excited this morning to see these little guys all over the cucumber plants. I can not wait until stuff starts ripening. I am going to be giving away produce if everything comes in the way it looks like it will. Wait, did that make sense? You know what I mean. I will be sharing with whoever wants some.

Big Boys

Check out my tomatoes. These were supposed to be my grape tomatoes, but it doesn't look like that's what I got. My mom is excited, because she wanted big ones to make fried green tomatoes. I like the big ones for sandwiches, but prefer the little ones for my salads.

Luckily, my cherry and roma plants have tons of tomatoes on them. Now I just have to wait for them to turn red!

Oops!

Yesterday, I wanted corn on the cob. I just wanted to run to Walmart because they had them 4/$1.00, but Junior didn't want to drive that far. He just wanted to run to one of the local produce stands.

We went to our favorite one, but they were out of corn. Imagine that, out of corn on a Holiday weekend. There was a different stand between that one and our house, so we stopped there. They had pre-shucked corn bagged in the cooler, so I grabbed two bags, which was ten ears of corn. There was no price, so when the girl rung it up, I was shocked when she said six dollars. I should have said right there to forget it, but I really wanted corn.

She swiped my debit card, but the machine was out of ink. The owner came over, and after pressing all the buttons, she swiped the card again, thinking it didn't go through. The other girl said it went through twice, so she refunded six dollars back to my card. I had no idea what they did, but i signed the paper, and left.

As soon as we were in the car, I looked at Junior and told him I was going online when we got home, because my bank has instant access, and I could see exactly what they did. I checked as soon as I walked in the door, and sure enough, they had charged me three times, but only refunded one charge back to the card. Of course, my printer has no ink, so I took a picture of my screen with my camera, and off we went. I was so mad that I just locked and shut the front door, not realizing that Junior didn't grab his keys. I wish we had called a Scottsdale Locksmith but Junior was impatient, so he broke into the house. He broke my doorknob in the process, but we were on our way soon enough.

I walked back into the produce stand, and told the lady that she had charged me three times, and only refunded one. I told her I could show her on my bank statement, and handed her my card. She didn't look at my camera; she just opened the cash drawer and handed me six dollars. I stood there for a second, and VERY rudely she says to me, "that's what I owe you, right?". I said yes, and before I could say anything else, she says, "what else do you want?". I, very calmly, said I wanted my debit card back. She just grunted, and gave it back to me. I have no idea why she was angry with me, when I was a s nice as could be pointing out THEIR mistake.

I will never go back there, no matter how badly I want corn on the cob.

Flowers, Beautiful Flowers

There's my first zucchini flower. I was so excited to see that this morning.
Below is my first cucumber flower. I hope that both plants produce lots of veggies.
We love our veggies around here.

Romas

Look at how tall my tomato plant is! This one has a few tomatoes on it, and so far, they look like romas.

The other day at the party, the girls were using my garden as home base while playing tag. I stopped them real quick. I didn't want my poor little plants to get trampled.

I Don't Think So

This is my tomato plant that is growing upside down on my front patio. It is supposed to be grape tomatoes, but I don't think it is. These are growing too round and too big. I think someone might have stuck the name stake in the wrong plant at Lowe's. I am kinda ticked because I like the little tomatoes better than the big ones. I do have two other tomato plants in the garden. One is romas and the other is cherries. I hope they are what they're supposed to be.

Garden Update

Check out my tomato plants! We had to cage them cause they were falling over.

These are my peppers....store bought, my seed plants didn't make it :(

Cucumbers...again, store bought. I don't know why most of the plants I started didn't make it.

I added some zuccini, which I have never grown before.

I am really proud of these little guys...my squash...from seeds! The only ones that lived.

Tomatoes

Check out my tomato plants! Don't they look great!

If you look a little closer, you can see that my roma plant has a few flowers.

The rest of the garden, with the exception of my pepper plants, is doing great!
I'm not too sure why the peppers dies like the cucumbers did, but I will replace them this weekend. I was really excited about the peppers, because my kids love them, and I recently discovered I like them too.
The squash are the only "seed" plants that have flourished. The cantaloupe hasn't died, but it's not growing either, so I'm not sure what's up with them. Junior is going to be eating squash every meal, though, because all 15 plants I planted are doing great.

Mowing My Grass

For those of you who know me well, you will not be surprised by the following statement.

I love mowing my grass.

I love getting on the riding mower with my MP3 full blast. I am able to sing at the top of my lungs for an hour, and nobody complains. Mostly because they can't hear me, but whatever. I love the smell of freshly cut grass. Nothing says it's Spring to me more then the first time I smell the grass.

I was so happy when Junior said last weekend that it was time to mow. I had been looking forward to it for months. I got the mower out and Junior made sure the tires were good. I had gas and oil, so I was ready to go. I turned on some Lady Antebellum and was on my way!

I didn't get very far. For some reason, I had a lot of rocks in my grass, and they were shooting out towards the neighbors cars, so we decided to wait until the next day when they were at work to do it. I don't remember exactly what happened the next day, but Junior ended up mowing for me.

When I went outside today, I noticed that the grass needs to be mowed again, and this time I am doing it. Junior can weed eat. I hate doing that. Our garden needs some tending, too. I have been thinking about using natural lawn care products, you know, going organic. I think it would be good for my veggies. My plants, as well as my grass, need fertilizer, and organic fertilizers help improve the soil, allowing it to better retain more nutrients and moisture. I am sure those would pass on to my plants, making my veggies all yummy and healthier.

My Garden

I went out to water my garden this afternoon, and some of my plants aren't doing so well. A few of my cucumber plants are laying over, and some of the squash plants look like they have just given up. All of the peppers and cantaloupe look good, and my tomatoes are doing great I even have flowers on my hanging tomato plant. I hope I don't lose too many.

Done!

We finally got the boxes filled, and the plants outside. I loaded them up with some miracle grow, so hopefully they will get big quick. We ended up buying two tomato plants, one cherry and one roma, and I have the grape tomato plant hanging on my porch.
This is my garden:

These are my cantaloupe.

These are my squash.

These are my cucumbers.

These are the peppers and tomatoes.

I can't wait until I see some veggies!

Must Get Dirty

This is what happened last week when I was busy with my sisters...my plants grew out of control!

I have got to get the boxes filled outside so I can get them planted out there. I love walking over to them, shaking their leaves, and smelling them. YUM!
We looked in Wal-Mart yesterday, and priced dirt. I think we may end up having to buy some. Hopefully the rain will stop by the morning so I can get it done.

My Pepper Plants!

I was so happy to see more of my pepper seeds have sprouted. Now I have to get busy finishing up the boxes outside so I can plant the cucumber plants out there in the next couple of weeks. I want to get some type of string/lattice contraption made that they can climb up on. I also have to buy some tomato plants. I prefer the cherry/grape/roma ones. YUMMY! I am hoping we will see a lot of veggies this summer!

WoooHooooo!!!!!

My pepper seeds have sprouted! Can you see it? I am so happy this morning. I was convinced they weren't going to. Not all of them have. In fact, I think only three have, but that's better then none. Hopefully tomorrow there will be even more.

These are the others...aren't they doing great!

Our Seeds Are Planted

PLUS

EQUALS

Brandi and I decided to plant some seeds.
We bought canteloupe, cucumbers, squash, and peppers.
We followed the directions on the tray, so hopefully in a couple of weeks we'll see some sprouts.
I will take pictures to track our progress.
With a little luck, we might even see some veggies in a few months!
