Valentines

I wish I could say that I came up with this idea all on my own, but I didn't.  My dad's wife made these for all the grandkids for Valentine's Day, and I thought they would be perfect for the kids in Brandi's class.
The cups are the little cups that the Crystal Light mix comes in.  Inside is a mini muffin liner filled with m&m's.  The little baggies are the ones that go over lolipops that you can buy in the craft store, and then we tied them with heart ribbon and added a little message from Brandi.

I know the kids in her class are going to love them.

I Made Chocolates!

Ryan's party is Friday night, so I have been trying to get things done early.  Yesterday I made some chocolate lolipops.  I know they aren't the best looking, but I am sure they will taste good!  I don't have the patience to brush the molds with chocolate to accent the features.  It was a miracle that I used two different colors on these.  I made some others, too, and I'll get those pictures up soon.  Check out how these look now that I wrapped them up:

Yum, Candy

I have been trying, for the past few weeks, to eat a little better. I have cut out a lot of the night time snacking I do, and have tried to make better choices when I do eat. I am trying to get Junior to do this with me. He is, however, not exactly thrilled with the idea. He loves his sweets, and the other day, he wanted stick candy. Do you remember those? I haven't seen them in the candy aisles in the stores, so we had to check the bulk candy. I still couldn't find it. I told him we would have to go online and look for it, so we began our search. I was not surprised when we couldn't find it. I did, however, find a really cute candy store called CandiesDelight.com. They have all kinds of candy to chose from, and I gotta tell you, I was drooling a little. I now know where to go to get candy for the kids birthday pinatas, and Halloween. They even have beemans chewing gum and black jack chewing gum. My kids are big gum chewers, so I might have to look into getting some of those for them to try. They are like little guinea pigs; they'll try anything once.

I Want Candy!

Do you remember that song? For some reason, it popped right into my head this morning. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I have decided to start dieting today. I am sure in a couple of days I will be craving candy. It was so much easier when I didn't have kids to resist the sweets.

Lately, their favorite has been gum. Junior and I usually let them pick out a little something if we go to the store over the weekend, but only if they have been mostly good all week. For the past few weeks, they have all been picking out gum. When I asked Brandi why, she said it's because gum lasts the longest. She's a pretty smart kid.

My favorite candy has always been Haribo gummy bears. When we went out to eat with my mom and Colleen on Saturday night, they had a dessert bar at the restaurant. Colleen saw that Brandi had gotten some bears for her ice cream, and was going up to get herself some. I asked her to get me some, but only the white and red ones, because those are my absolute favorites. She rolled her eyes, and said she was not standing up there, picking through the gummy bears. However, when she returned, she had a bowl of red and white gummies just for me. Do I have the sweetest sister, or what?

Yummy Candy

We are big sweet eaters in our house. I know we shouldn't give in to the kids so much when they ask for candy, but let's face it, candy is yummy! If I could buy Bulk Candy I would because it would probably cost less than the individual packs I buy at the grocery store.

Branid has gotten bad about asking for gum. She carries a little pocketbook, and she thinks that she needs to have gum in there at all times. That's right, I said need. It's gone beyond wanting. She has tried almost every kind of gum available, and knows exactly which one she needs to have. I guess it could be worse, because her favorites are usually the sugarless ones, and I do prefer her chewing gum than scarfing down candy bars.

For Christmas, Santa like to fill their stockings with candy. This past year, they got some Laffy Taffy. I am not usually a fan of the pure sugar candies, but I tried the watermelon flavored laffy taffy, and it was yummy! I also like the banana, but not the strawberry. I don't know why. The kids will eat any flavor. They aren't picky at all.

If only I could get them to eat their vegetables that easily...
