Do you watch movies online? I don't, but only because I pay good money every month for all the cable movie channels. Plus, I never know which online sites are legal, and I am afraid of getting into trouble. I know that sounds a little nuts, but that's me. If you do watch movies online, using Rapidshare Search can make it easier to find the movies you are looking for. You can also use them to search for games and apps.
I think I am going to go watch a movie. I guess I am easily influenced, because writing about Rapidshare has put me in the mood to watch a good scary movie. Or maybe it's Halloween that's doing it. Either way, I am going to go scare myself a little while.

The Lovely Bones
There is something you should know about me. When I start to read a book or watch a movie, I have to finish it. Even if it is horrible. Even if I know what is going to happen, I have to finish.
Well, this movie broke me of that. I couldn't make it more than 30 minutes.
It sucked, which really sucked because I had heard such good things about it.
Brandi has been bugging me for weeks to watch it, so yesterday we settled in to watch. I think I actually fell asleep. The last thing I remember watching was the police finding the girls hat.
I am now wondering if the book is as bad as the movie. Have you seen or read this story? If so, which was better?

Date Night Opens This Weekend
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of 20th Century Fox. All opinions are 100% mine.
It's date night. You and your husband decide to go out to eat, but you forgot to make a reservation. On a whim, you decide to take someone elses reservation, and pretend to be people you are not.
Little did you know, the people you are pretending to be are not exactly good people. In fact, there are other bad people who want to hurt them. These people interrupt your dinner, and you spend the rest of your date night trying to save yourselves, and prove that you are not who they think you are.
This sounds like a pretty good action movie, right? Well, when the two main characters are Steve Carell and Tina Fey, you can bet there will be a lot more comedy than action. Watch the trailer for Date Night Movie, and you'll see what I mean.
I wrote about this movie when I first heard about it weeks ago, and I am so excited that it is opening this weekend. I am not sure I will be able to swing seeing it opening night, which is Friday, April 9th, but I am going to try my hardest to get my sister to go with me one night next week. I wish Junior would take me, but he thinks it's a waste of money for him to go, because no matter what kind of movie we go see, he always falls asleep. My sister said she wants to see this movie, too, so it's just a matter of finding a night that works for both of us.
How about you? Will you be seeing this movie opening weekend?

Date Night

I have got to say, this movie looks so funny! I love Steve Carell movies (but not The Office...go figure) and Tina Fey is a hoot. This is one flick I definitely want to see in the theater.

Riding In Cars With Boys

And realized that I didn't remember a thing about the movie.
It's about Beverly, Drew Barrymore, a 15 year old girl who ends up pregnant in 1965. She marries her boyfriend (reluctantly) and spends the next ten or so years of her life trying to live the life she thinks she deserves. She is an awful mother, and treats her kid more like an equal, and he ends up taking care of her most of the time. There were seriously times I wanted to reach through the screen and slap the crap out of her.
Her best friend Fay, played by Murphy, finds herself in the same situation, and the girls vow to raise their daughters as best friends, only Bev has a boy. You can use your imagination and figure out how the movie ends.
A chick flick, most definitely, but it will probably be another few years before I sit and watch it again.

The Invention Of Lying

Really. Probably the worst movie I have seen in a long time.
This disappointed me greatly, because I really do love Jennifer Garner.
Basically, this is a movie about a world where everyone tells the truth, no matter what it is.
Then one day, Mark (Ricky Gervais) tells a lie, and realizes that he can get whatever he wants by doing so. Sounds like a great premise, but they went in a really weird direction with it, and it really turned me off. I know, for some reason I am saying the word "really" a lot. Anyway, when they had Mark make up the story of God, I was pretty much done with the movie.
Seriously, don't waste your time on this one. I wish I hadn't.

Movie Reviews, And More
If you are anything like me, when you have a big purchase to make, you do your research first. I will spend weeks pouring over my options before I make a decision. I will look up personal reviews, written by people who have actually used the product. These are great, because you get honest opinions from people who know how the product works, and have tested it for themselves.
I found this site called ProductReview.com.au, where you can find reviews written about everything from movies to vacuums. I am a big movie buff myself, so I found myself drawn into reading those reviews. I was especially interested in The Sixth Sense. When I watched this movie, I had no idea what the big shock at the end was that everyone was talking about. Reading what other people wrote, I discovered that I am not the only person who really loved this movie, and who never saw the shocker coming. Watching for a second time, I was able to see all the little things I missed the first time, because I didn't know what to look for then.
Of course, I had to check out what the reviewers thought about my favorite movie of all time, The Princess Bride. There were only three reviews, but all of them were glowing. I guess I'm not the only one who sees the greatness of this movie. If you haven't seen this movie, you have GOT to rent it. No. You have to buy it. Trust me when I say you will watch it over and over again. I love that my copy is now loved by my daughters.
So, the next time you are in the market for a movie, or even a car, check out ProductReview.com.au. They have all the reviews you need to make a smart decision.

Bad Movies
Kasi and I have been watching movies together. She likes scary movies, so we have been watching all the scary movies we can find. The last two we watched were horrible.
Now, I love a good scary movie, too. But there is a fine line between a good, bloody gory movie, and stupidity. I think I watched this movie, Valentine, alone, because it has Denise Richards in it, and she has a tendency to get naked. I was surprised to see Katherine Heigl in it. I love her, but they killed her off in the first five minutes, which was disappointing. (don't worry...I didn't give anything away with that). I don't know how I made it through the whole movie, because the acting was horrific. If I never see another movie with Denise Richards I will die happy girl. No one got naked, so I told Kasi she could watch it if she wanted to, but that it wasn't worth her time. She chose not to watch.
Smart girl.
We watched Midnight Movie together, and this one was okay. I did know any of the actors in it, although the "leading lady" Rebekah Brandes, looked familiar. The premise of the movie is that the killer of an old black and white film comes out of the screen to kill people. It was an idea we hadn't seen before, so it was interesting in that effect. There were a couple of adult moments that Kasi didn't seem to pick up on, but I wouldn't recommend this to movie for kids. Had I watched it first, she probably wouldn't have been allowed to see it.
Good parenting, huh?

Arctic Tale

This movie is narrated by Queen Latifah who I just happen to really like. She is in Hairspray, and sings the most beautiful song while they are marching in the streets. Anyway, this movie follows the lives of Nanu, a polar bear cub, and Seela, a baby walrus. It was interesting to see what these animals have to endure just to survive. I don't want to spoil it for those wanting to watch it, but I cried when each animal lost someone close to them.
I would like to see a "behind the scenes" on how it was filmed, because they got pretty close sometimes. I would recommend this movie, but suggest having tissues close by.

Hancock

Hancock ( Will Smith), an unconventional superhero, is hated by the public. He is a drunk who saves lives, not caring about the damage he leaves in his path. He saves Ray's (
Jason Bateman ) life, who just happens to be a PR guy. Ray decides to thank him by giving his image a makeover. Ray's wife (Charlize Theron ) is less than thrilled with this idea, and towards the end of the movie we learn why.
This was one of those movies where I was crying by the end. It was sooooo good. The next movie on my list by him is Seven Pounds. Hopefully I can watch that one soon.

The Other Boleyn Girl

We all know that Henry VIII (Eric Bana ) had many wives. The first was Catherine (Ana Torrent ) but he grew unhappy with her when she couldn't give him a son. Enter the boleyn sisters, Mary ( Scarlett Johansson) and Anne ( Natalie Portman). Mary becomes the kings mistress while married to another man. In the movie, she gives birth to the kings son. On The Tudor's, this was never mentioned. (I checked online, and history says Mary may have given birth to the kings son) While she is giving birth, Anne makes the king decide that in order to be with her, he must never speak to Mary again. We all know he chose Anne, and that it doesn't end well. If you want to know the rest, watch the movie, or go read a history book. :)

The Strangers

There has only been one movie that literally scares me to death.
Halloween.
Why? Because the original Halloween can actually happen. Home with kids, deranged stranger stalking and terrifying you. I hate the part where she looks out the window, and he is standing by the tree across the street, and then a second later he is gone. I get the heebie geebies just thinking about it.
That said, I should have known better than to watch a movie about a couple who are terrorized during a home invasion. It had the same suspense moments as Halloween, and I am totally going to have nightmares about it. It stars Kristen (Liv Tyler ) and James ( Scott Speedman) as a young couple who arrive "home" in the early hours of the morning, only to be terrorized by three strangers in masks who relentlessly try to kill them. I know, it doesn't sound too scary, but trust me, I am so glad it was light out when I watched it.

Movie Nights Are Fun
I love watching movies. Junior doesn't. This means that I never get to see the great movies in the theaters unless I go with my sisters. The last movie I saw in the theater was Monsters Versus Aliens in 3D. I only got to see that because I tagged along to a birthday party Brandi went to.
This means that if I want to see a movie, I have to rent it. My cable company offers rentals, but the just released movies are so expensive, and you only get to watch it for 24 hours. Sometimes, if a movie is really good, I like to watch it a few times. I was looking into BLOCKBUSTER, and their online program sounds promising. The one thing I really like is that they give you the option of exchanging your movies at a local store if you forget to mail back a movie you have already watched. This comes in handy when you forget on a Friday morning that you planned your weekly movie night with the family, and all you have is last weeks movie.
I love doing movie night at my house. I like watching with Kasi best, because we have the same taste in movies, the scarier the better. She can watch just about any scary movie without having nightmares. There was one movie that did give her nightmares though, and that was Sweeny Todd. I think it's pretty funny that she can watch monsters and horror flicks, but a barber slitting throats gives her the willies. Go figure.

Enchanted

Robert (Patrick Dempsey) and his daughter find Giselle (Amy Adams) standing on a billboard, trying to enter the castle advertisement. Giselle has been recently tricked by her future MIL (Susan Sarandon) from her old world (cartoon world) and finds herself in a strange place with strange emotions. Robert wants to help Giselle find her way home, but Giselle is sure her Prince Charming, Edward (James Marsden) will come and rescue her, which he does, complete with a talking chipmunk. Along the way, Giselle learns to feel different emotions besides happiness, and Robert learns how to love with his whole heart.
This is one of those movies, like Hairspray (another Marsden movie) and HSM series that I love to watch, even when the kids are in school, that Junior makes fun of me for. Maybe I'm just still a kid at heart...

Deception

the movie is about Jonathan McQuarry (McGregor), an accountant who lives a lonely, boring life. He is befriended by Wyatt Bose (Jackman) after they smoke a joint together at the office. The two men spend time together, and accidentally (or was it?) end up with each other's phone. McQuarry is then thrust into a nightlife of casual sex and mystery. He meets a beautiful woman he calls S (Michelle Williams) through this sex club who he falls head over heels for.
That's about all I'm going to say, because I don't want to give away any of the good stuff. I really liked this movie, and would recommend it to a friend....or to any of you reading this. But, like most of the movies I watch, it was not for children.
I am curious to see Jackman in something else now. Any recommendations???

30 Days Of Night

It stars Josh Hartnett as Eben Oleson, the sheriff of an Alaskan town. Every year the town is plunged into darkness for 30 days, because the sun is not visible for that amount of time. This makes it the perfect place for vampires to attack. Eben, along with his estranged wife Stella, (Melissa George), his brother Jake (Mark Rendall), and a bunch of other town folk try to hide from the vampires for the 30 days until the sun comes up. It was interesting reading the subtitles for the vampires...they had their own language. Who knew they couldn't speak English?
There is a lot of bloody killings, and the ending was a surprise. I won't give it away, but I will say that for once, my sister actually recommended a movie I enjoyed. Just, please, don't watch with the kids.

Twilight ~ The Book
Do you have a favorite book that you can read over and over? That one book you go back to when you have nothing else to read?
For me, that book used to be this:
For me, that book used to be this:

The only thing that is going to stink is that I love the Jacob character in the book, but don't really care for the actor they have playing him. He's just not "my" Jacob.

Movies And Music
The last movie I saw in the theater was Twilight. I had to go with my sisters, because my husband hates going to the movies. I, on the other hand, could watch a different movie everyday. I really enjoy movies. I like comedies. My two favorite movies of all time are The Princess Bride and The 40 Year Old Virgin. Both of them are very funny movies. I can probably recite them word for word. I love recommending them to others, and then talking about my favorite parts. I also love when some one recommends a movie to me, or tells me which ones to avoid. Some times I will listen, but most times I like to give a movie a chance.
I will read Drama Movie Reviews that real people have given. I like the opinions of regular people, not movie critics. I don't need to know about how good or bad the technical stuff is, or how many awards a movie is nominated for. I just want to know if other people found it funny, or compelling, or hated it. I love watching movies that other people hate, and then I end up loving them. A friend sent me Young Frankenstein because she didn't like it, but I really enjoyed the humor of it. It just goes to show that what I like may not be what others like.
I also like reading music reviews, even though my taste in music is a little odd. I like country, and rock, and 80's music. It's great because I am passing my love of music down to my kids. In fact, my 13 year old son's favorite group right now is Def Leppard. I think that's pretty awesome.

Know The Words?
I love watching Movies. I love romantic comedies and mysteries. I love horror and scary movies even more. I guess you could say I will watch just about anything. I do, however, like to know what other people think about a movie before I watch it. Not necessarily critics, but people like me, who just enjoy watching movies. There is now a website you can go to that has Mystery Movie Reviews
by everyday people. You can even sign up and hype movies yourself. You can share your opinion by rating it with stars. Sign up is quick and easy, as well as free.
It's not just movies you can rate. You can read music reviews as well. Now, I will admit, I am very particular about the music I listen to. I love songs you can sing along to, and I can become obsessed with knowing all the words. I spend more time than I will admit online looking up lyrics. My biggest pet peeve is when my kids, or anyone really, sing the wrong words to songs. It drives me crazy! Even as a kid, I had to know the words. This was before the internet, so I would tape it off the radio and listen over and over until I knew every word. Drove my sister crazy!
