Dyeing The Eggs

I know Easter was like a week ago, it's just that I have been really slack in posting pictures. I still have a bunch from our trip to the mountains to post, too.

Anyway, I was hoping that this year, we could skip the whole egg dyeing thing. I mean, Ryan is 14, Kasi is about to be 13, and Brandi is 8. It's Brandi who decided that she is still young enough to do it. Thankfully my little nephew was dyeing some, so we went to my sisters and Brandi did it with him.

I am really hoping that next year, at 9, she will finally be old enough that we can skip it.

Cross Cake

My mom made this cake for Easter.

Decorating cakes is a recent hobby of hers, and she is getting really good at it.

My sister, brother, and families, along with my gang, all hung out at mom's house last Saturday to celebrate Easter. It was a beautiful day, full of great food and fun.

I am looking forward to the next time we all get together.

Easter Eggs From My Childhood

I was at my mom's house last week, and she had just put out all her Easter decorations. It has been many, many years since she has, and it was great seeing everything again.

I especially loved seeing these eggs. (for some reason, my sister Tami's egg is missing) They are ceramic, and they have to be more than 25 years old. My mom used to have a ceramic studio in our basement, and was always making beautiful decorations.

As you can see, my egg says "Jenny". It has been a long, long time since someone has called me that. Now if you do, I will not answer.

:p

Happy Easter To You!

Just a quick post to wish you all a happy Easter!

I hope you are all spending time with the ones you love today. We had a great time yesterday at my mom's, and are spending today just the five of us.

Fishing, food, and family....there's nothing better!

Great Deal

Look what I found at Wal-Mart today. You all know that all my Easter stuff got ruined by the move, and that included my kids Easter baskets. I bought cheap plastic ones this year for them, because I couldn't afford nicer ones. Well, I was walking in Wal-Mart before, and they had all their non-candy Easter stuff marked down 75%. These baskets were normally $7.00, but I got them for $1.75 each. They are huge, and I love the beaded strands that go around them. The pink one is for Brandi, and the purple for Kasi. I didn't see one for Ryan...he'll be 14 next Easter, and all the baskets looked too juvenile for him. He'll probably end up just getting a gift bag full of candy like i did this year. He didn't care...all he cared about was the chocolate inside.

Easter Memories

I loved Easter growing up. I remember every year we would get up and look for our Easter Eggs that the Easter Bunny hid during the night. Then it was off to church. After church, we would head to Grandmother's house for another egg hunt with our our cousins. She would hide an egg with each of ours names on it, and if you found someone else's egg, you had to leave it hidden. It was so much fun spending the day with family.

As an adult, Easter is different. For one thing, down south, the Easter Bunny doesn't hid the eggs during the night. I know for all you Northerners it sounds weird, and it was for me. Instead, the kids take turns hiding the eggs throughout the day. She still leaves baskets full of goodies, so my kids do have a surprise when they wake up Easter morning. I am trying to come up with more Easter Ideas to make the day special. What do you do to make Easter a special day for your kids?
