My Elephants

Did you guys know that I love elephants? At last count, I have about 350 elephants in my home.  Some are figurines. Some are pictures.  Some are stuffed animals. Four are wind chimes. A few are planters.  I even have an elephant shower curtain in my bathroom.  Whenever someone comes to my house for the first time they always comment on my elephants.

I have been thinking lately that I need to display my favorites in a special way.  Right now, my figurines are on my bookshelves and on a shelf that I made that hangs in my hallway.  I wish I could afford glass showcases for them, but I think that might be a little over the top. I might just rearrange the furniture in my living room so that my bookshelves are in a more visible area, therefore making my elephants more visible.

One of my favorites is a ceramic baby elephant with a blue ribbon around it's neck.  My mom gave it to me for my birthday one year when I first started collecting elephants.  I also have a pair of elephants with big, beautiful eyes that a coworker gave me years ago for no reason at all.  She just knew that I loved elephants. My brother got me one from somewhere overseas when he was in the Air Force, and that one is special to me too.

Are any of you collectors? if so, what do you collect and how do you have your collection displayed in your home?

I Love This!

I found the cutest elephant decals for laptops on etsy today.  The one in the picture is my favorite!  The laptop I plan on buying next week is black, so I bought this decal in a lavender gloss finish.  I'm not getting a MAC, so I don't know exactly how I will place the decals, but I do know it's going to look awesome!

He's A Little Blue

Look what I found in WisperOn's etsy shop!  It's the most adorable elephant bell I have ever seen.  That's right...this little guy is a bell.  His legs are the bell's clapper.

I think I could make my entire Christmas wish list from the things I find on etsy.  It is my goal again this year to give all the adults handmade Christmas gifts, even if they are not made by me.

I Love This Bracelet

That's right...it's elephants!  I found this in an etsy store ~ Lyla Accessories.  It's her Suede elephant bracelet in earthy tones.   I'm not a big fan of the tassel, but the rest is adorable.  Those little elephants would look great on my wrist. Unfortunately, at $27 (including shipping) it's a little too expensive for my budget right now.  But, I can still drool over it!

I Can Do This! I Think. Maybe.

I have a habit of scouring etsy and saving the pictures of the things I like.  I know the artists and designers are hoping to sell their creations, but sometimes I come across something that I think I might be able to make on my own.  This little elephant Christmas ornament is one of those things.  The only thing I am questioning is how the clay sticks to the glass.  Glue?  If so, what kind?

Oh, for $10, I might just buy this guy. I mean, it is adorable.

Elephant Wedding Cake Topper

How awesome is this?  I never had a wedding, and now I want one so I can have a cake with this one top.  (of course, my elephants will be two shades of purple)  I love the little name banner...it gives it such a personal touch!  I found it here. It can be completely customized, from the color of the flowers to the butterfly.

While browsing the site, I also found this cake topper, which is even cuter than the last one!  I love that this one has the date on it.

This shop has so many different unique cake toppers, from dolphins to hamsters, and each one is cuter than the next.  If you have a wedding coming up, and want something adorable to top your cake, check out this site.

Two More Cute Elephants

I found these little guys in FimoFlora's Fantastical & Featherbrained Whatnots etsy shop.  Aren't they adorable?  The little pink one is a patchwork elephant.  I love the expression on his little face!  The gray one is called nutty buddy, and I love the little peanut in his trunk.  In fact, this one comes with three other little peanuts, too.  Both of these elephants are beads, but I would not use them as that.  I would set the pink one on a shelf with all my other tiny elephants, and I would make the gray one into a magnet.  They would both make a cute addition to my collection.

God Bless America

I was doing my normal stalking of Etsy for elephants, and check out this guy I found.  He's perfect for the 4th of July, and completely unique.  He's expensive ($50), so I won't be adding him to my collection right now. :(

I found him here, in HUNBUN22 Holiday Folk Art For You's etsy shop.  She has quite a cute little collection of pieces, most of them are holiday themed; all of them unique.

I will be saving my pennies though, until he is mine....

Look What I Found On Etsy

A purple elephant!  I want it, too.  I found this cute little OOAK Polymer Clay Elephant in Alecia Edwards etsy shop.  Isn't it adorable?  She has other animals listed, too, like crocodiles and turtles.  I especially love the parrot sitting on an egg.  The prices are reasonable, too, which means this little guy will be mine.  Soon.

I Think He Needs A Haircut

Check out all it's hair!

The grass is growing like crazy.

I think tomorrow I might take a pair of scissors to it.

I can honestly say that this is the weirdest elephant in my collection.

And I love it!

A Unique Little Elephant ~ Week 1

Check out my elephant!

He's growing "hair".

I'm pretty impressed, because it's only been about a week, and the grass is pretty high.

I wonder what it will look like next week?

Don't worry...I'll keep you posted! lol!

A Unique Little Elephant

Junior knows that there are two things that he can bring home from the store that will make me very happy.  The first, is chocolate.  he gets extra points if there is peanut butter in it.

The second is an elephant.  Now, it is hard to find unique elephants that I do not already have, but he does surprise me every now and then.  Sunday night, he ran to Lowe's with Ryan, and the girls and I stayed home.  While there, they found this little guy.
I don't think you can get any more unique!  The elephant is a hollow container where I can grow grass, which will look like his hair.  I love it!

My Newest Elephant

Check out this elephant that Junior bought for me last week when we went to the mountains. It is glass with all kinds of colored flowers inside. It hangs on a black cord, making it a pretty cool necklace. For now, it is hanging from the trunk of an elephant shelf that I have. This is where I hand all of my elephant necklaces.

Awesome Little Elephant

I can't think of another word to describe how I feel about this little guy...he is just awesome! I found him in highveld's etsy shop.

This sculpture only stands about 3 1/2 inches tall, and I want him.

I want him bad!

But, he costs $35, which is a little more than I am willing to spend to add to my collection.

Had I found this a month ago when we had our tax money, I might have splurged a little. If you are a hippo, rhino, or ladybug fan (Boo loved ladybugs!) check out this etsy shop.

These sculptures are truly awesome!

Etsy Elephant...Or Is It?

I love etsy. This is no surprise to you all, my loyal readers. My favorite things to search for are elephants and jewelry.

While searching for elephants today, I came across this one. It's cute...but it's also not handmade. I know this because Junior bought me the same elephant at walmart for about $75. It comes painted, exactly like the picture here shows. The only thing this seller did was attach a ribbon to the back so she could call it a hair bow holder.

And she's selling it for $5, with $2.50 shipping.

I thought the whole point of etsy was that it was all handmade stuff?

I Love Etsy!

A couple of weeks ago I splurged a little and ordered a few elephants off of etsy. I also ordered a couple of pairs of earrings. The ones that I am wearing in that picture over there are my favorites. They are made with silver wire, and it's all squiggly at the top, then it has two black beads at the bottom. They hang pretty low, which I really like. Sure, they get stuck on my shirt every once in a while, but that's the price we girls pay, right?

The one thing that all these things that I ordered have in common is that there were business cards inside of each package. There was such a variety of business card designs, with some even being magnetic. (I know these are just regular business cards stuck on magnets) I consider myself pretty crafty, but not enough where I would sell what I make. There have been a couple of times where I have tried to make a buck or two, but nothing ever comes of it. I never had business cards made, and maybe that would have helped me get my name out there. Who knows.

I guess I will just continue to give away my creations, and let the people I love enjoy them.

Adorable!

Check out this mommy and baby. These two were hanging out in Clay Creations etsy shop, just waiting for me to buy them. They are tiny...only 1 1/2 inches tall. I am sure they will fit in just fine with the rest of my little guys (or girls).

Now if I can just get all of them unpacked...

Too Cute!

Here's another little elephant I found on etsy. This one was in Fluttering Flower's etsy shop. She has the most amazingly creative sculptures and buttons. I love her little mushrooms. In fact, I think I might just have to get one for myself. She has a purple set that I would love to display in my home.

Oh, and did I mention I bought this little guy, too?

Purple And White Elephant

How awesome is this? I absolutely love it. I found it in InSearchOf's etsy shop, and I bought it for myself. It only cost me $3.50. I am not sure how tall it is, but I am assuming it is not too big because it is sitting on the bottom of a bowl.

I can not wait until I find it in my mailbox!

The Best Part Of The Circus

We went to the circus the other night, and the elephants were my favorite part (of course). They did all kinds of tricks, like sitting up and sitting on each other. We were really close to the rings, so we had a terrific view. The clowns had the kids laughing, and I think I even saw Junior crack a smile once or twice. I can not wait to go again next year.
