One morning last week, I decided to rearrange the furniture in my living room. My desk is in the corner of the room, and when I sat at the computer, my back was to the rest of the room. This made it hard to watch television or even talk to anyone else who happened to be in the room. Ryan helped me turn my desk around, so I can now look beside my computer screen and see the rest of the room.
There are a couple of problems with this, and I think I may need to check out some furniture stores san diego to find a solution. The first problem is lighting. My desk is a hutch type piece of furniture, and it blocks out the light from the rest of the room. I was looking at lamps san diego and found a pretty cool floor lamp, which would be perfect. I liked a couple of their regular lamps, too, but I don't have enough room on my desk for one. In fact, there is barely enough room on my desk for my keyboard.
The second problem I have is that now that I am facing the television, I am watching way too much of it. I am finding it hard to get my work done everyday. When the kids were in school, I didn't even turn the television on during the day. Now that the kids are home, the television is always on. Most of the time I don't even like what is on, but I find it to be such a distraction. Maybe I should look at some del mar furniture, and find a new desk. I could get one that could sit sideways in this room, so that my back wasn't to the room, but I wouldn't be able to see the television.
Or maybe I should just send the kids to their rooms to watch television when I have to get some work done.

I Was Looking For A Lamp, And Found This
My bedroom has a ceiling light. At night, I like to read in bed, but find the overhead light to be too much when Brandi is trying to sleep. (yes, at 8, she still sleeps with me) I was online looking for a nice lamp to go on my nightstand, and came across Himalayan Salt Lamps. If you are like me, you probably have no idea what they are. I found this explanation online:
Salt lamps are naturally beautiful and ambient while generating an increased balance of airborne negative ions; which are scientifically proven to enhance human health, environment, and well-being; These are hygroscopic too, thereby reducing moisture content which airborne particulates/bacteria need to remain airborne and survive.
That sounds pretty interesting to me. I want one of these lamps now. Not for reading, obviously, but to see if it makes a difference in our health and well being.

Brown
Last weekend, I finally got frustrated enough and unpacked the girls room myself. We've been in this place for a month now, and they were still living with everything in boxes, and their room was a mess. I had warned them that if I had to unpack their stuff, I would throw stuff away as I went. You see, they packed their room at the apartment themselves, and took everything, and I mean everything.
Four garbage bags later, their room looks great. When we first moved, I let them decide what color they wanted to accent their room with, and they decided on brown and pink. They found these really cute peel and stick decorations for the walls, and they were perfect since we are not allowed to paint.
I also decided to paint their shelves and things to match their room, which will be quite time consuming. This mirror used to hang in the hallway at the apartment, but there is no hallway here, so Kasi asked if she could have it in her room, since her dresser doesn't have a mirror. It's an old, antique-y looking thing, and it is gold. I want to paint it brown to match her room, but I am not looking forward to it. There are so many little curvy places...it is going to take me forever!
I also want to paint this little shelf brown, with pink hearts. I am not looking forward to painting the spindle thingys, but I am sure it will come out great when it's done. I bought this shelf when Kasi was about a year old, and it has always hung in her bedroom. I wish she would have stayed with the pastel color palate, but I guess a part of growing up is that her tastes will change. At least she didn't want her room black like mine was when I lived at home.
And FYI, my black room was awesome. White walls and everything else was black. My mom decorated it for me for my birthday, and then sold the house a few months later.
I loved it while it lasted, though.

Bedroom Redo
I think Junior and I have finally decided on a house. I don't want to give too much away, because we still have to come up with the deposit before someone else, but let's just say it is pretty much exactly what we are looking for. I can not tell you how excited I am that it has three bedrooms.
For the past 18 months, we have been living in a two bedroom apartment. Ryan has his own room, and the girls have a room. I sleep in the girls room, in bed with Brandi, and Junior sleeps on the couch. Now, even when we move, Junior will still sleep alone, because of his c-pap machine. But, it is going to be so nice to have a bedroom to ourselves again.
I am looking forward to decorating our new room. I have two dressers and a night stand, but my bed is just rails and a box spring/mattress. I would love to find a headboard that matches the rest of the furniture, but who knows. I may end up looking into leather beds, to give the room a more modern flair. The dressers I have used to belong to my parents, and they have been divorced for more than 10 years now, so you can imagine how old this stuff is, because they had it for a while before they split.
The dresser in Ryan's room used to be Junior's when he was a kid, and he is 43 now. I guess you could say that all of our bedroom furniture has character. I think that's better than saying it is all old as dirt. Maybe we all need new beds and dressers. If only we could win the lottery...

New Furniture
I have always wanted glass tables for my living room. For years I told myself that as soon as the kids were older, I would get some. Now that the kids are older, I am trying to find some that I absolutely love and have to have. While looking at Furniture online the other day I found this table.
I wasn't necessarily looking for glass tables, but when I found this one I fell in love. It's not too modern, but it still doesn't go with my couch. But to me, that just means I get to buy a new couch, too.
Do you think I can talk Junior into that?

Picking Furniture
I am still looking for furniture to put outside near the pool. I am leaning towards some type of restaurant tables; you know the ones that they always show on the side walks in front of trendy little cafes on television. I found a website called Contractfurniture.com where they have a huge selection for tables. They give you the option of choosing the base you want, and the top you want. This gives you hundreds of different possibilities. I, of course, loved the black metal bases with the gray and black speckled tops.
Now I just need to pick out the chairs I want to go with the tables.

Looking For Furniture
I am so tired. The past three days have been busy ones, and I just want to crash. I want to crawl in my bed and sleep for about thirty hours. I know that's impossible, especially since I share my bed with a seven year old. Junior and I have been looking at bedroom furniture, trying to find something that will work better for us, maybe bunk beds or something. I need to get Brandi into her own bed soon, because she is getting big enough that she thinks she owns the bed. I spend half the night removing her knees from my kidneys.
While we were looking for beds, we also found some cute Bathroom vanities. There is no point in us buying one, though, because the landlord would never approve of us putting in a new one, especially since we would expect them to pay for it. The one we have now is so small, the kids keep their things on the toilet tank. I wish we could change that, but we'll just have to make due until we move to some place bigger.
We were also looking at outdoor furniture because I want a lounge chair for by the pool, that way while the kids swim I can relax with a good book. At least we would be able to take that with us when we move.

How Cute!

Max Furniture Inc not only carries girls bedroom furniture, they also have a nice selection of outdoor furniture, as well as furniture for the entire house. You already know that I really want a fire pit for our yard. Junior and I were just talking the other day about how we could make a little patio area that wouldn't be permanent, and I think we figured out a solution. Of course, it will have to wait until we have more money, but at least we have a plan now.
If you are looking for new furniture for your house, check out the custom max furniture. You can chose from a variety of fabrics and textures, making your purchase exactly what you are looking for. I love this feature, because some places do not give you this option. I know because it happened to Junior and I. When we first got married, and had a little money, we were looking for a living room set. We found a design we liked, but it was green. I am not a big fan of green furniture, so I wanted to change that. They didn't allow that. At least with Max, if I find a design I like, I can make it my own.
That is a definite plus in my book.

Fire Pits
I am looking forward to warmer weather. Granted, we have been unseasonable warm for this time of year lately, but it is supposed to start getting colder again. I want Spring to be here. I want to be able to sit outside and watch the kids play. I want to have a fire going in a pit, where they can roast marshmallows for s'mores. The only problem with this is that our pit was home made at the other place, and when we moved, we left it behind.
I guess this could be a kinda good thing, because now we need a new pit. I was looking online at Max Furniture and they have an awesome outdoor set. It's a round fire pit, with four matching chairs that circle it. I love the design of the pit, and the chairs look so comfy. Perfect for relaxing and hanging out with the family. You all know how important that is for me. I love when Junior and the kids are home with me, and we have nothing else to do but spend time together as a family.
Max Furniture has other things besides outdoor furniture. They have bedroom sets and dining sets, all for amazing prices. If you are looking for new furniture for your home, start looking here. You may not need to look anywhere else.
