My sister recommended this movie, knowing I enjoy a good bloody gore fest every now and then. This movie did not disappoint in that area.
It stars Josh Hartnett as Eben Oleson, the sheriff of an Alaskan town. Every year the town is plunged into darkness for 30 days, because the sun is not visible for that amount of time. This makes it the perfect place for vampires to attack. Eben, along with his estranged wife Stella, (Melissa George), his brother Jake (Mark Rendall), and a bunch of other town folk try to hide from the vampires for the 30 days until the sun comes up. It was interesting reading the subtitles for the vampires...they had their own language. Who knew they couldn't speak English?
There is a lot of bloody killings, and the ending was a surprise. I won't give it away, but I will say that for once, my sister actually recommended a movie I enjoyed. Just, please, don't watch with the kids.
